A modern call to care
In a healthcare setting, every second counts. So, any patient call button needs to be so clear that it can be operated by unfamiliar users with instinct.
Rauland’s Concentrical Care Call Cord was developed with usability as a primary (and critical) goal. Featuring a tactile, backlit button, the device is accessible to a wide range of users, including those with limited dexterity or hand strength. The shape is also intuitive and comfortable, requiring no instruction and remaining fully usable with eyes closed.
Beyond its core functionality, the Concentric Call Cord is built to withstand the rigours of a hospital environment. It's resistant to repeated cleaning from harsh chemicals without degradation, meets IP67 ingress protection standards, and is durable enough to handle drops, cable strain and abuse. Its sleek, minimalist design not only looks good but also prevents the accumulation of germs and bacteria.
Cobalt's proven development process started by gaining a deep understanding of user needs and the harsh hospital environment. Through digital sketches, foam mock-ups, early DfM/A consideration, material testing and iterative prototyping, the team developed a durable, easy-to-use, and hygienic handset that meets the most stringent hospital requirements.
The Team We believe good design happens by expert people working as a team.
