PixLite R2F and R4D-S LED Controllers
Advatek Lighting design and manufacture pixel control systems for LED lighting applications. Creative illumination projects typically deployed in architectural, entertainment and theatre productions rely on control systems to create visually stunning pixel-mapped patterns, images, and text.
The PixLite R2-F and R4D-S controllers are the next generations in long-distance pixel control that provides a significant increase in flexibility of system setup, providing a jump in the possibilities with LED light installations.
Cobalt worked in close collaboration with Advatek’s in-house electronics design team to develop the new product range with an accelerated 4-month timeline from concept to product launch. An all-new enclosure design and configuration were developed to enable different variants to be assembled into a common casing. As well as reflecting the advanced performance, the device needed to be as compact as possible, whilst allowing clear visibility and simple finger access to the integrated fuses. Multiple mounting options are catered for including DIN rail and direct mounting options.
The result significantly upgrades the company’s product design presence and will underpin its global expansion within this specialised but growing field of large-format LED lighting installation.
A single enclosure design is used for multiple products, providing significant commercial impact through reduced tooling costs and minimised part count.
The compact and lightweight Pixlite R range has been designed to minimise the overall footprint, providing more opportunities for mounting and installation in tight or restricted spaces.
The Pixlite LED controllers are DIN rail compatible and can be mounted directly to a variety of surfaces providing flexibility for installation to the end user.
Visibility and ease of access to the integrated fuses was a critical requirement for the new design. The fuse array is positioned on the front of the product with a clear, ratcheted hinged lid developed to protect the fuses while allowing clear visibility. LEDs with custom moulded light-pipes provide a clear user indication of a blown fuse.
The Pixlite R range was developed in an accelerated program to meet product launch deadlines. Developed under the AMTIL Build it Better Voucher program, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping were used extensively to minimise development time by reducing the duration of prototype and design optimisation cycles.
