The Victorian government has just introduced a new grant program for startups, and is closing another in the coming months.

  • The MedTech Market Growth Program will provide $50,000 in matched grants to 20 successful MedTech startups and scale-ups. The objective is to equip these companies with the necessary skills, services, and resources to accelerate their NPD journey.
  • Early-Stage AgTech Startups Program. This scheme will provide up to $50,000 in matched funding to cover operating costs, capability building and business development services of AgTech startups that will enable founders to access the best possible support and advice to build their businesses, grow jobs and support Victoria’s economic growth.

The MedTech program is a collaborative effort between the Australian Medtech Manufacturing Centre and LaunchVic. It seeks to drive innovation, attract investment, and accelerate growth. This includes assistance with customer market analysis and navigating the complex regulatory approval processes required for medical products.

MedTech is identified as one of Victoria’s most rapidly growing economic sectors, with around 650 companies employing approximately 6,000 people and generating a total value of $1.4 billion.

The AgTech sector is being supported for the same reasons, to capitalise on Australian innovation to drive smarter agricultural practices. AgTech grant recipients include DroneHand, a farmer-friendly, automated flight app for livestock monitoring. And Cobalt client, Gaia Project.
