Cobalt Design has won the prestigious 2024 Good Design Team of the Year award at the recent Sydney-held Good Design Awards ceremony. In addition to this top honour, Cobalt and Bio-Rad’s collaborative effort on the PTC Tempo Thermal Cycler was also rewarded with a Good Design Award.
Good Design Team of the Year
The Good Design Team of the Year Award is a special accolade annually awarded to a design team that has consistently delivered exceptional work and fosters a design-led culture within their organisation.
We are honoured to receive this recognition. It’s a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and talent of our entire team of designers, engineers, and project leaders – and their commitment to delivering exceptional results.
"From our start, Cobalt’s focus is in creating a culture and team approach which puts the user, client and project front and centre."
Steve Martinuzzo - Cobalt Principal
At Cobalt, we strive to create an environment where designers and engineers have the space to be their best and work their magic as a collaborative, creative team. This culture has been instrumental in our success, and has enabled us to consistently deliver award-winning products that resonate with users across a range of categories, applications and locations.
Bio-Rad PTC Tempo – Good Design Award Winner
The PTC Tempo Thermal Cycler is a molecular biology instrument used in a wide range of research, diagnostic, and industrial applications. This Good Design Award is a testament to our successful collaboration with Bio-Rad’s team, developing the design and exterior engineering of the device.
A primary focus of the device design was flexibility – it needed to cater to a diverse range of applications, while serving both individuals, and evolving lab spaces. This required a deep understanding of lab environments and workflow needs, which translated into a highly adaptable product offering while maintaining high performance and increased efficiency over its predecessor.
“The product’s user-centric design and adaptability reflect a significant advancement in molecular biology tools.”
