Left off the Podium

There were no surprises in the line-up of this year’s Cobalt corporate triathlon team with all previous members putting their hands up for a second time around. The year had obviously been long enough to forget the pain of the previous race.

Jack (Co-Director) led the team off this year with a record-breaking swim in a choppy Port Philip Bay. He followed it up with an equally impressive ride and run. He then handed the timing anklet to Lorrin (Designer) who was questioning her decision to compete again when puffing and panting before even reaching the beach for the swim. With some extended transitions in order to wipe the sand from between her toes, Lorrin finally finished the race leaving Tom (NEC client) to complete the last leg. Tom’s choice not to wear that troublesome wetsuit this year, teamed with his relatively brand spanking new bike, allowed him to speed home and record a blistering time for the Cobalt team. Unfortunately it was not enough to pip Jack from taking home the tiara for the fastest team member.

Our overall time was 2:51:07 and we came 812 out of 1650 teams. Well done everyone. Now back into the pool to train for next year’s race!
